Imagine

Imagine if my legs weren't there

Imagine if I had no hair

What would I do if I couldn't talk

What would happen then I ask?

What would it be like if I couldn't hear

Could I drive a car if I couldn't steer

What would I do if I had no arms

What would life be like I ask?

What would you do if you couldn't see

What would your life really be?

What would you do if you couldn't walk

You couldn't hear or you couldn't talk?

We take for granted all these things

Whilst still wishing we had wings

X-ray vision and psychic powers too

But tell me, what would you do?

Without your limbs you couldn't move

Without you lips you couldn't choose

Without a language you understand

You'd probably keep your head in the sand.

Where would you be if you couldn't paddle

Or hold yourself upon a saddle

What would you have if you couldn't reach

What would you do then, I ask?

What would you do if you couldn't read

How would I know what it is that you need

What would you do if you had a dream but things are harder than they seem

Who can you really call a friend?

On who can you truly depend...

When life goes around it's last bend

What does it mean in the end?

Take me or leave me for life isn't fair.

Author’s Note: This was written as a time when I was struggling with my mental health and depression would often take over. Past trauma was coming to haunt me and I was lacking support from those around me.
