THEME: ROOTED

For this issue, we're seeking submissions that explore how your upbringing, culture, family, or heritage have shaped your mental health and emotions. This could include generational patterns, cultural identity, childhood experiences, or the ways you’ve grown from or broken away from your roots. We welcome personal stories, poems, art, and reflections that examine where you come from and how those origins continue to impact your mind and wellbeing.

We are open to loose or flexible interpretations of the theme.

REQUIREMENTS

  • We accept ALL styles of visual art and writing included but not limited to the following categories: essays, interviews, poetry, short stories, novel excerpts, music/literary/film reviews, photography, painting

  • WRITING

    • Poetry: 3-100 lines

    • Prose: 400+ words

    • Type entry in legible font

    • If written in language besides English, submit both original and English translation (both will be published)

    • Cite outside sources (author, title of work, date of publication)

  • ART

    • Upload a clear photo of your work (or multiple photos)

    • Include which medium/s you used (watercolor, oil paint, market, etc)

PRIZES
1st Prize - $100

2nd Prize - $50

3rd Prize - $25

*Note: Multiple individuals may earn each prize level

Blog Submissions Open!

Mind Matters accepts blog submissions on a rolling basis. Accepted submissions will be published on the "ARTICLES" page of our website within two weeks of acceptance. Submissions must be MENTAL HEALTH RELATED.
