The Silence is Deafening

“Knowing what is right

Is their right”

Gloria Manthos

Trains blare horns

To silent sleepers

nestled in comfort

Crouched on couches

Watching warfare with blank stares

Warm in blankets unaware

Privilege packed into seven generations

Generating income

Cogs in machines

Stitched into a tapestry of patriotism

Knowing what is right

Is their right

With ballots listened to

By officials who send their money

To fund the dead

Coloring their time consuming media

In hues of red

“The Silence is Deafening” is an observation of the events of October 2023.

Gloria Manthos

Gloria used to be a poet, and now she’s something more. The font is not dry, just redirected. Now, her pen only writes the words that want to be read.
